Site Paused for Now

Last week I was informed of the reason I had not been receiving enemy KIA data since March. There has been a policy change at MNF-I in Baghdad and they are no longer releasing this data. I am working to resolve this issue. By July 15, I will either have a resolution or I will […]

MNF-Iraq Responds

For Iraq, there has been no change in policy and MNF-I units have been
operating continually. We have just seen more captures and less violence
in general recently.
We have, for example, seen a drop in the level of security incidents
during Ramadan this year. In 2004 through 2007, Ramadan in 2006 provided
the highest level of security incidents. For […]

Five terrorists killed

Coalition forces killed five terrorists and detained two suspects Friday [October 19 2007] during operations targeting al-Qaeda networks throughout Iraq.

The last enemy losses with a date and place reported by CJTF-82 in Afghanistan was on October 1 for deaths on that date.
I am writing my […]

Activity Lull

For whatever reason, reporting of enemy losses has come to a stop at MNF-Iraq and CJTF-82 in Afghanistan. When it resumes, if it resumes, I’ll post it here.

Terrorist Death Watch - Afghanistan

There’s a reason that I do not do much analysis on the war in Afghanistan. The losses by American and allied troops are fairly accurate but the enemy looses are vastly underreported. The graph above reflects the reports I have been able to document. Keep in mind that NATO does not, as a matter of […]

Body Counts

Q: General, I noticed that you mentioned both in talking about Iraq and Afghanistan the number of enemies that have been killed. Do you think that the enemy body counts is a real measure of success in these operations?
